The gifts have been opened, premium put away, and tree taken down. I don't recall where this holiday came from with all it's Santa's, lights, and wrapping paper. Ok, that's not true. I understand the origins or at least the beliefs that reflect thousands of citizens nation wide. The tree and adornments always confused me despite the warmth and joy it brought to the room. I'm not knocking the tradition nor questioning it... after all, it was quite the bonding experience when the old man loaded up the bros for the annual cutting. Marko generally ended up with a bloody nose with James sitting in his sled while echoing cries surrounded him. Blood, sweat, and tears aside we always came away with a winner. A real live tree that not only brought magical gifts but a family together. While we haven't been around to help the old man cut a tree he still comes through year after year. Without getting to deep or sentimental I will say that this was the first time in a while that the whole family was in one place without bikes involved.
Amanda and I did the mid coast round trip: Straight North into the wintry woods for a few days before heading West to the cities and then back South towards Mad town for the new year. We laid low while the ball dropped in order to get a head start on our new years resolutions or lack of. We were never big on the resolution thing. I'd rather put it on the table throughout the year. We lead average lives that include both binges of health and indulgence. We're both spontaneous which leads to health after indulgence. While some will strive for perfection in 09 we'll be sticking to the 08 plan. After all, it seemed to work pretty well.
On another note, there's a new planet in the blogosphere. In between travels I managed to work up a blog for the youngest bro and current single speed "national" cx champ James.
